Emily completed a BSc in Human Physiology (1st class with Hons) at the University of Leeds, UK, in 2016. She then studied a PhD in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine from 2016 to 2019. Her research focused on the mechanisms that underpin pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation in hypoxic pulmonary hypertension and testing novel chemical compounds to block these pathways.

Emily has since edited over 1000 manuscripts helping ESL authors to publish their research in prestigious medical journals, such as The New England Journal of Medicine. She has also completed a range of other medical writing projects, such as medical device landscape reports for international pharmaceutical companies.

Mainly editing in the life sciences and medicine, Emily finds her career extremely fulfilling because she is continuously learning, and she thoroughly enjoys helping authors to create crisp and impactful medical publications.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys cooking, traveling, and learning Italian.
