Our editors are all native English speakers, educated mainly to the postgraduate level at top-ranking research universities. They draw on their own postgraduate experience to ensure that the quality of your thesis or dissertation passes the scrutiny of supervisors and examiners.

Subject Specialist + Language Editor
Your thesis or dissertation is reviewed by a subject specialist to ensure compliance with the stylistic, result-reporting and referencing conventions of your field, followed by a language specialist who focuses on general linguistic and stylistic issues to enhance the overall readability.

Special Discount for Students
All postgraduate students who commission us to edit their thesis or dissertation are entitled to a special discount of up to 20%, depending on word count.

Ensuring correct spelling and appropriate punctuation to clarify your meaning

Checking for consistent use of key terminology

Types of Editing Services

Standard Editing

by far our most requested service

Editing by native English-speaking editors
A subject specialist first edits the document to ensure compliance with the conventional usage and style of your field, and makes grammatical, semantic and structural changes to improve readability
The subject specialist also comments about areas that need further improvement or clarification
A language editor then revises the document to address any issues of general language use and corrects any remaining errors

Premium Editing

requires 25% additional time:
an equivalent surcharge is applied
All aspects of Standard Editing

The editors also leave comments on the overall readability of the document
The document is returned to you for any revisions needed after our work, including changes to the text, replies to our comments and any comments of your own
The editors then work on the revised document, making any changes needed and answering all of your comments

Revisions are an integral part of the peer review publishing process. For transparency, if you revise a paper that we have previously edited we will charge the next round of editing according to the following*:

Descriptions and Revisions Made
Light – up to 25% revisions
35% of original cost
Medium – up to 50% revisions
60% of original cost
Heavy – up to 75% revisions
80% of original cost
New document – over 75% revisions
100% of original cost
*The calculation is based on the Standard Editing rate regardless of whether the original service was Standard or Premium Editing.

Extra Services

We are happy to conform to any of the various formatting requirements for our clients. Adhering to the APA or Chicago Manual of Style requires 20% additional time (and an equivalent surcharge), while adhering to specific journal guides requires 30% additional time (thus an equivalent surcharge).
Editor Report
The Editor’s Report is available for a flat fee for those who would like to improve their writing. This report outlines the key grammatical and stylistic areas of your writing that would benefit from improvement in future.

Editing Certificate
Provided free-of-charge when requested, you can use the Editing Certificate to prove that your document has been edited by a professional English language editing service.

File Types

We can edit in all file types, including Word, LaTex and PDF. However, editing is much more efficient if we can use a Word or LaTex file. This allows us to edit electronically, rather than by hand. If we work with a PDF, then we must print the document and hand write the edits, making it much more difficult for you to incorporate the changes.

If you have the LaTex (.tex) file, we can open that in Word and edit it using the “Track Changes” function. We will be careful not to touch any of the LaTex code, meaning that you can copy the finalised document back into your LaTex editor.

Of course, if you would prefer not to send the Word or LaTex file, we can work on the printed PDF instead.

Post-grad Student Discounts & Loyalty Schemes

We offer student discounts for editing post-grad theses and dissertations.

We are also open to discussing discounts based on contracted volumes or sole editor arrangements for departments, faculties, research centres and administrative units.
