John moved into academic editing after a career in mostly business journalism, first freelancing in Italy for publications including the Guardian, the Independent, Institutional Investor and others, then joining Bloomberg News in Milan. John returned to the UK in 2006 to cover business and finance for Bloomberg, which he left in 2019. He hosts the Boom & Bust podcast, which recounts financial catastrophes, and when not reading history books can be found walking his dog or playing the guitar. He has a degree in Philosophy and a Master’s in Applied Linguistics.
